I haven't seen the hang problem on the 32-way ive been using, but with
pae_smp.patch applied to 7826, i still see the set_gdt problem above (Panic on
CPU 0: CPU0 FATAL PAGE FAULT). 

The patch inits the gdt for only CPU 0, but that is where the page fault is.  

Why did you add the local_irq_enable() call before load_LDT ?
