To fix the bsod you need to have intelide.sys, Pciide.sys, Pciidex.sys
(and for cdrom Atapi.sys) in your system32\drivers directory, they may
be already there but if not you can extract them from the install cd,
service pack, or another running system of the same build/sp.

Then you need to add the following registry keys, adding them to the
physical server will do no harm provided you also install the files
listed above, or use a offline registry editing method to add the keys
to the registry after you clone the hard disk:

You mentioned that you are using Acronis Echo Server, I assume you
mean True Image, there is a additional plugin you can get called
universal restore which allows you to easily add additional drivers
such as these in order to restore the system to different hardware, if
you had that you could add the drivers above or even try using the
gplpv drivers, but its a expensive solution when free tools can do the
same job ;).

I use True Image to take disk images of servers for backup purposes
but last time I needed to p2v a server was quite a while ago and
rushing to get it done I ended up using vmware converter to clone the
machine while it was running, booted it under vmware server and added
the the registry keys, then converted the image to raw and booted it
under xen using emulated devices, and finally installed the gplpv
drivers.
