Personally, I don't ever use the built in VNCserver.  The overhead is enormous - and it defies what is increasingly becoming a virtualization best practice - treat VMs like any other server.

 

If you need a GUI, you can connect to the XServer or install VNCServer like you would on a regular linux system.  Otherwise, just use SSH.
