RE: [Xen-users] new installation of the base operating system

|
If your guests are all 32-bit HVMs there should be no
problem going from 32-bit to 64-bit. There would be a problem if you had 64-bit
HVMs and wanted to go from 64-bit to 32...

If you have 32-bit DomUs you will need to make sure you
have a version of Xen that has the 32bit-on-64bit patches, I believe OpenSUSE
has a version of 3.0.4 with these, or you will have to run Xen unstable or wait
for 3.0.5.

this way is begging for pain. Backing up your images and Xen setup is
*good*. I've seen reports of people running 32-bit VM's successfully on
64-bit OS's, but I've personally had serious trouble with running
    non-rebuilt apps from 32-bit environments in a 64-bit environment.
    (Wacom devices, in particular.)
Why do you have to update your server
to 64-bit but not your VM's?
64-bit was the request of the boss for
  the base operating
system, but i could install i386 also.
   the
instantaneous installation was actually not for active service. but now the virtual machines  are running, and i have to switch the operating system cause we do no use fedora on our linux servers at all.
  also you do not recommend
to install 64-bit? than i will install i386, i think there
would not be such a big difference,or?
  thank you
  Nico!
