How does this differ from OpenXenCenter? I was hoping that we could avoid with XCP what we've done with Xen in that we have a million different gui interfaces to Xen and none of them are really THAT good. If we pool our resources we could have one or two really great fully featured guis for XCP.

It differs from OpenXenCenter by being lightweight (no client app required, will run from any machine with even a basic browser without installing extra software, including smartphones), includes extended functionality (virtual machine watchdog, cloud host watchdog, working load balancer), and combines multiple steps in single actions (automatically stops and restarts the virtual machine when changing memory, etc). The other thing is that you never have to expose the XCP cloud password itself to the user.

I wrote this because I don't have a large staff and being mobile is critical for me. This means that I have to be able to do most if not all of my admin work from my BlackBerry smartphone. That's the beauty of open source, different focus brings different results.

Whatever anyone feels about it, I won't apologize for writing it because someone has written something similar.

Vern

Vern,
Not expecting an apology! We all have different needs but I think we're all afflicted with the curse of wanting to invent our own wheel as well.

With your software can I have a user only manage specific VMs that he's been assigned to or is everyone THE admin?

Grant McWilliams
