Same here, all my 1950 are running into the same problem.
DELL/Broadcom are shipping a tool to disable their NICs firmware at http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R125802&SystemID=PWE_1950&os=DOS&osl=en&deviceid=8641&devlib=0&typecnt=2&vercnt=1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=166797
Unfortunately you will have to run it from a DOS boot disk (so you need an USB floppy) or hack some sort of DOS bootable CD (USB key DOS boot disk will fail because of a bug in Intel/DELL BIOS it seems).
In the given package, you will find an utility called "uxdiag", run the command "uxdiag -c 1 -mfw 0" to disable the firmware on the first NICs and "uxdiag -c 2 -mfw 0" for the second one. Each time it will take about 10 minutes to finish.
