Well he gave only one example (e.g.) gentoo 64, so yes obviously that
one isn't going to work, but others may, depending on how they're
virtualized.. I didn't want to give a blanket / resounding "NO!" until I
knew.

Going to be fun without some kind of centralized storage depending on
the size of the guests, but yes, possible.
