I've seen the same problem with an AMD system. You'll probably find it will 
boot in Safe Mode, which isn't really much consolation. I've even managed to 
install it completely in QEMU and then boot it in XEN... same results it 
stops on the splash screen.

Windows XP and 2003 work though. Windows NT4 is even worse than Windows 2000 - 
it has a corrupted output on the bluescreen section making it impossible to 
install. I've also found SDL to work better than VNC for the graphics 
display.
