It would be great if you could submit your patch to the linux-pci. Since the native kernel (KVM) may also interested in this feature.

I agree with you that reassign_resources option is not needed.

I will submit the patch to remove it, after submitting the patch to
fix the issue which was found by Zhao, Yu.
