This is to do with the newline character being different between *nix 
and Windows bases systems. Try fiddling with your terminal program and 
see if this helps.
I have to say, that I've never experienced this problem before on Xen, 
only when hacking around with embedded hardware...
Not sure about the not responding part. Make sure that you only have one 
console open at a time per DomU
