I believe that in Xen Unstable should be set of CS's brought back HVM support.
The question is - which ones ?

Can you give it a try with SDL?
Set:

vnc=0
sdl=1

in your VM config file.

I hope you'll be able to see at least the BIOS booting in the SDL
window, and maybe an error accessing the disks.
