Wei,

Get off the Ubuntu 2.6.24 kernels.  I had nothing but problems with them, 
especially .24-26.  Very buggy.  I have been using 2.6.31.6 from Stacklet and 
things have been rock solid ever since.  There are a lot of of other kernels 
available as well if your machine is 64 bit.  Just search the list or check the 
wiki.
