To install Xen you'll need to have an existing Linux install to act as the 
Xen "domain 0".  Do you have that?
VT is just a processor feature which Xen can switch on whilst running if it 
wants it; it won't affect any installed software or your computer, and will 
be switched off again when you reboot (until you run Xen again, or some other 
software which uses VT).
Btw, it's better to post questions that don't involve code or bug reports to 
the xen-users list only.
