Which distribution do you mean? The stable xen releases do include
examples that all use ioemu, xen testing also.

The manual is a bit unclear - it reads like it should be possible to
use non-ioemu disks, also. But I cannot confirm that I can get it
working with hvm and without ioemu.

In xen unstable I just saw that ioemu is missing in the example, so it
might go away in later versions.
Maybe this should be asked to the xen developers, as this seems not to
be documented anywhere.

If you mean a linux distribution that came with xen binary packages,
and they included such an example, you might ask the people who
shipped it - maybe they can tell how to get that working.
