Well i did and ls -l into /etc/init.d/xend and show

-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root 813 Jul 19 16:21 /etc/init.d/xend

so the xend and init.d are there!!

When i used the command that you said me /sbin/service xend stop/start works
perfectly!! so, what is happening with the other command? sounds very weird to
me :S
