This is very interesting, Stephan. Could you run a test with dom0 compiling the kernel? Even with the disk exported as a physical disk to the domU, domU is still sending messages via the hypervisor for block read requests. So, a run of dom0 compiling the kernel should provide useful information.

By the way, good work on controlling the memory size to 512MB when running native.
