Peter,
I had this same problem though my network configuration wasn't exactly the
same.  My solution was:
 # Enable ip_forward
 /bin/echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
 # Turn of tx offloading in all doms (dom0 and domu)
 iface eth0 inet manual
    up ifconfig eth0 0.0.0.0 up
    up ethtool -K eth0 tx off || true
