I should sleep more I guess... as yes all was due to this typo...

BTW anyone know why the domainID and then the vif numbers always increase?
I do not like to have so many entries reported by ifconfig... but is it or
could it become an issue if I do many/many create/destroy or shutdown on a
box?

Hi,

I think your config is wrong. it has to be "phy:/..." not "pty:/...".
