I've been testing this a bit more.  Even though dom0 boots, something
isn't right: vim is segfaulting.

I'm running at the moment with your up-ported patches, but without the
extra patch you provided for debugging.  I see no output on dom0's
console to indicate what's going wrong.

gdb says:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

0x4000000000272d50 in redraw_statuslines ()
(gdb) 

I suspect this is relatively meaningless, except it seems to be
consistent between a few runs...
