[Xen-ia64-devel] [PATCH] enable xencons by default
Assuming everyone is happy with my patch to enable redirected
interrupts to the guest, I'd like to follow it up with this patch. This
will enable xencons by default and should make configuring the dom0
console much easier for the user. The down side is that we also have to
deconfigure serial support in the Linux kernel, which hurts our
transparent paravirtualization story a little bit. Hopefully this is
only temporary until someone figures out a more elegant solution to
prevent dom0 from claiming the UART used by xencons. Please test this
patch. You should no longer need a console= or xencons= to boot dom0.
I also removed an extra call to console_endboot(). Comments? Thanks,
Alex
PS - Note that while the defconfig changes look more extensive, it's
simply the result of setting CONFIG_XEN_DISABLE_SERIAL=y and running
make oldconfig.
