Hi Jeremy,
I switched to stable-2.6.32.x branch (which is 2.6.32.21 based) but I get the same problem. Attached is the Xorg.0.log file when I booted with nomodeset option.

interestingly I did not see any kernel or driver crash messages in the dmesg output. I do see these messages multiple times in /var/log/messages

Sep 29 15:40:32 vwifi0 gdm-binary[2244]: WARNING: GdmDisplay: display lasted 0.048984 seconds
Sep 29 15:40:32 vwifi0 gdm-binary[2244]: WARNING: GdmLocalDisplayFactory: maximum number of X display failures reached: check X server log for errors

Don't use that branch; it isn't supported (in fact, I deleted it a while
ago).  Use xen/stable-2.6.32.x for now.
