I have also tried booting Xen 4.0.1 hypervisor and pv-ops dom0 kernel 2.6.32.21 and then launch Windows XP HVM domU with-OUT VGA passthrough from within X Windowing Server (GNOME Desktop Environment). The guest operating system (WinXP HVM) in this case is perfectly stable and doesn't crash.
There could be stability issues with the Intel integrated graphics (IGD) VGA passthrough code in Xen 4.0.1. I have noticed that the screen/monitor tends to garbage out within 2 minutes after Windows XP HVM domU has booted up (with VGA passthrough enabled).
