The patch looks ok, but I'm wondering whether this is really something
that the user should configure to make use of. Couldn't we
automatically detect the availability of acceleration and if it's
available, shouldn't we use it by default? Perhaps the option should
rather be 'no-accel' to disable it for testing purposes?
