You mean to provide builtin option in mkinitrd....
Now, I am trying
 
mkinitrd --builtin .... initrd-xxxx  2.6.xxxx
 
I just did make world and make install ....is there is to specify  to compile scsi and ext3 in kernel ?

Yes, you're right. Sorry for not seeing it.

If you compile the scsi and ext3 modules in the kernel (instead of as
modules) and boot without an initrd, what error do you get?
