I think this is because io_apic_irqs is not getting initialized 
properly. My next patch will contain something like:
void __init setup_IO_APIC(void)
{
       if (acpi_ioapic)
                io_apic_irqs = ~0;      /* all IRQs go through IOAPIC */
        else
                io_apic_irqs = ~PIC_IRQS;
}

which should hopefully take care of this apparently harmless message.
