The current setup where each driver replicates all the device channel setup
code code is a bit nasty.
It would be well worth the effort to split out the device channel protocols
into a device-specific portion (details of associated VBDs / VIFs / feather
dusters) and a generic portion (details about the shared memory page, event
channels, etc).
