Summary: AMD BIOS IOMMU not recognized by Xen-4.0.1-rc1 (AMD
S5670 Chipset w/ Dual Opteron 6128 CPUs)
Product: Xen
Version: unstable
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux-2.6
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Linux-pv_ops dom0
AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: donbrearley@xxxxxxxxxxx
I continually see in my logs:
(XEN) AMD-Vi: IOMMU not found!
(XEN) I/O virtualisation disabled
I have IOMMU enabled in my BIOS. This is a SuperMicro H8DGU-F motherboard with
32GB of RAM, and dual Opteron 6100-series 6128 CPUs. This board features the
AMDS5670 (AMD 870) chipset, and from what I can gather, fully supports IOMMU.
There are no BIOS updates from the vendor at this time.
[1] Here is the boot output with iommu=verbose enabled
[2] I don't know if it's relevant to this or not, but I must have MCE disabled
in my /xen-4.0.gz boot option in order for this system to boot.
I get this output if I boot w/ MCE enabled. I have "microcode update"
enabled in the BIOS. The examples below do NOT contain the disabled MCE.
Xen & pv_ops kernel built with a generic config from 'gmake world' and 'gmake
install' in the /xen-4.0-testing.hg/ directory.
Once I do have my system booted without MCE, I am also subject to this bug:
http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1612
(unsure if at all related)
Thanks for your help!
