Robert, thanks for the hints! You are right about the rounding problem,
although this alone did not fix the bug. The workaround of blowing up the QCOW
file worked and pointed me to the right solution.
I submitted two patches to xen-devel which should fix the bug. I attached the
proposed core fix for reference.
Please acknowledge if this helps, it worked for me.
