[Xen-bugs] [Bug 1369] New: Linux kernel bug if you specify vif's MAC-add
http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1369
Summary: Linux kernel bug if you specify vif's MAC-address with
dashes instead colon character
Product: Xen
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: Guest-OS
AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: pekka.panula@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Xen version is 3.2.1, Dom0 is CentOS 5.2 64-bit.
Guest host is: CentOS 5.2 32-bit paravirtualized
If you specify MAC-address with dashes, eg. character: - , under virtual hosts
configuration, /etc/xen/machine) and boot it. It will say kernel BUG at
net/core/dev.c:3298! and then kernel crashes.
So this is wrong and causes kernel BUG message:
vif = [ "mac=00-16-3e-4b-4a-bd,bridge=br13" ]
Actually this is close to this bug:
http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1192
But in that case mac -address was correctly formatted but comma was missing
between mac and bridge, but in this case you can crash kernel with formatting
mac-address with dashes.
