Couple of other notes regarding this issue:
- repeated the test on XEN 3.2.1-rc1 and the cpu soft lockup occurred
- repeated the test with XEN 3.2.0 using the sedf scheduler and the soft lockup
did not occur
- in dom0, we use the 32-bit 2.6.18 kernel (CentOS 5.1), 64-bit XEN hypervisor
- in the VMs, we use the 32-bit kernel (CentOS 5.0)
