With version 3.1.2 i hadn't any segfault. (And i did big disk i/o in dom0).
Only the lvm make some problems, but this is a dom0-kernel problem and should
be fixed in kernel >2.6.22. I haven't searched for a backport.

Did you a test to segfault with xen 3.1.2?
