Two solutions: 1. Add 'xencons=ttyS' to your dom0 cmdline. 2. Remove any 'console=' statements from you dom0 cmdline, add a getty on xvc0 to your dom0 inittab, and add xvc0 to your /etc/securetty file. (1) Gets you previous console behaviour.
