Hi,
I have the same problem like you in stable.
I tried 3 diffenent SCSI Cards with differrent drivers all with the same result:
Adaptec 2940UW aha7.. , Dawiconrtol LSI Logic , old Asus based on NCR Chip.
All connetcet to a Ultrium 2 Drive from Tandberg.
I made backups for about 1 month once a day, with out no problem.
With cpio like:
.....
ssh -c blowfish leukefed.com "cd /; nice find . -mount -depth ! -name swap | c
pio -oaB -Hcrc | buffer -s256k" | buffer -S10m -s256k >/dev/nst0
echo "Backup ns1"
ssh -c blowfish ns1.leukefeld.com "cd /; nice find . -mount -depth ! -name swap
| cpio -oaB -Hcrc | buffer -s256k" | buffer -S10m -s256k >/dev/nst0
......
Checking the tape with:
buffer </dev/st0 -S10m -s256k | cpio -i --only-verify-crc
is no problem!
But if you try to restore data (Read form Tape write to disk)
The system will crash after 1 to 10 minutes.
buffer </dev/st0 -S10m -s256k | cpio -imd
(Do not mind buffer, the system will do the same with)
cpio -imd </dev/st0
Xen has no problem with DISK IO, i have copied tons of TB from Drive to Drive.
Xen has also no problem reading or writing to Tape.
Both combinations will make it crash.
I tried different irq handling for xen (XEN) with noapic and without.
