This issue was introduced by the smpboot changes. Although we'll probably issue 
a patch to revert to the old behaviour, it does raise a more general issue: we 
should probably have a mechanism that enables all this information to be 
for a guest, restricting the set of hw capabilities that the OS should report. 
[Unfortunately cpuid in user space can not be trapped.]
