From the suggestion to install bridge-utils and
openvswitch-brcompat it looks like you are building on top of the
Open vSwitch bridge compatibility support. I hope that this is,
at most, a temporary step, since the Open vSwitch team is working
toward "upstreaming" the kernel module and the bridge
compatibility module won't be going along with that.

Thanks,

Ben.

Hi Ben,

I'm not the official network guy, that's just my attempt to port the current xapi network behaviors to debian. Xapi has two networking mode, bridge or openvswitch and my suggestion to install bridge-utils is to be able switch between the modes, but they are not used in the openvswitch mode.

About openvswitch-brcompat, i don't think it is used actually, at least not in the scripts i've modified,
so it'll probably get dropped.

Anyway I heard those scripts are going to be rewritten, so I don't know if mines will be officially used. I hope I will get some feedback from Mike or Jonathan about them. At least on my side it's working :)

Best regards,
Sébastien
