Hi mates,
Since Citrix released the Xen Server beta 6, I decided to perform some tests with the PV drivers (Citrix Xen Tools) inside a VM running Windows 2008 R2 and the host server running Xen Source 4.0.2-rc3.
The Citrix PV drivers can run stable on Xen Source 4.x environment without activate test signing mode, but I've checked a lack of disk performance after ran some benchmark tests (CrystalMark).
In fact, there are some differences between Citrix Xen Server and Xen Source configured to execute this tests, for example, our Xen Server uses VHD disks and Xen Source uses a RAW file, but the hardware applied to execute both tests are identical.
In this case, I cannot use the Open Source driver, because we must to avoid run Windows in test signing mode due an internal policy of the company.
Does someone could give me some tips to improve the performance of a Windows 2008 R2 VM under a Xen Source host?
Thanks in advance,
Eduardo
