"mkinitrd -f --with=lvm2 [...] " doesn't really work. Running this command, I get an error saying that "No module lvm2 found for kernel 2.6.18.8-xen, aborting.". Is there any kernel config that I have to set to have this module included? Also, when the error occurs during boot, it just restarts; I don't get any shell.

Thanks
Virajith

have you tried
mkinitrd -f lvm2 [additional parameters]
?
Don't you get a shell when it tells you there is an error, where you
can try to load the kernel modules by hand and/or test the LVM
functionality?

Best
