Actually, XCP is simple CenOS with extlinux loader. You can use
secondary hard drive, USB hard drive, or even USB-flash with XCP on it
to do some simple tests. Other way is using other virtualization
platform (well... Xen, VMWare, Dosbox, etc) to run XCP (in some cases
you will not be able to run HVM's).
In my opinion, second hard drive is the best one (but be careful during
installation, it can remove all information from the fist one, so
disable/unplug disk with other OS and important data).
