Re: [Xen-users] Xen 4.0.1 freezes with no output

Indeed. This strengthens my presumption that Xen has a severe problem on
this platform (that is Intel 3420 [Ibex Peak] and 1156 "Lynnfield" CPUs).
Please try my workaround patch at

Uptime is now 160 hours with this patch on my machine.

Is this confirmed, or just your experience so far? We also use
SuperMicro and I was about to get a new Lynnfield CPU system, but
don't want to sit with problematic hardware.

I am working on tests to confirm that and I contacted the developers.
Right now uptime is over 8 days.
If my presumption is correct, then you need to understand that it is not
a problem of Supermicro. In a 2 month testing process I changed the
mainboard and used one from ASUS and the problems were absolutely the
same. The problem seems to be between Xen and the platform (not the
mainboard maker).
I am starting tests with Supermicro X8DTi and E5620 very soon. Since
this platform has ARAT (always running APIC timer) I expect a working
platform.

As matter of interest, how do you check the Motherboard mak
