Hmm,
this sound's not transparent to me.

Afaik this software is mainly related to package management (rpm-based distros) 
which usually not depends from a "special" kernel.

If really so, it should be able to provide a kernel with the "suitable" kernel 
configuration byself...

May be it might be interesting that rpm is available under other distors like 
Debian ones too.

This sound's a little like wearing the horse from the back (but might be that 
i'm completely wrong here...).
