[Xen-users] Single Windows server
Hi List,
We are purchasing a single windows server and will have 25 or so XP-Pro
clients.
About half of the clients will be through VPN.
Question: Would it be advantageous to virtualize the single windows
server with Xen?
I can think of a few advantages, such as saving off a copy for disaster
recovery, and I am sure there are more, but I guess I am looking for:
What is an optimum configuration and will it increase our costs a lot
and is it worth it?
The costs being the hardware, I suppose.
The server system requirements do not exceed the requirements stated by
Microsoft.
It will hold an IBM Unidata database and of course, the XP clients will
hammer away at it daily.
Same question for the XP-Pro clients, but should I also consider placing
their engines onto the same physical machine with the Windows server or
should we go with two machines?
Comments are welcome as I am a beginner with virtualization, but getting
very interested and am going to purchase hardware soon.
Thank you,
Joe
