Hmmm... from what I understand, antivirus software likes to hook and
patch the kernel in places it probably shouldn't... I assume that GPLPV
doesn't like something that happens there. If you are only scanning a
file though I can't see how that could matter.

I really need to be able to reproduce this problem to be able to even
look at it... does Sophos have a free and pay-for version like AVG? If
not, maybe a trial version?
