Well if nvidia can write some compatible driver, may work as I hear from some people having success in such setup. Did you try the "nv" driver?

In my setup, I have 2 X's running on Dom0, one for Dom0, another for DomU. I do XDMCP. Even Compiz works :)

For audio, I use pulseaudio in Dom0 that acts as an ESD and Pulseaudio server to clients, along with avahi.

I had the idea of a minimal dom0 that just serves the hardware for the
guests and nothing else.

I don't think that nvidia can do anything. The pci device is not
activated in dom0 and so dom0 can't do anything with this device. On
the other side domU can not set up the memory mapping after activating
the device.

I will set up the X11 in dom0 for now...
