Thanks Mark,

Your understanding is correct.

I want to create an HVM guest domain whose root should be a directory at NAS location.
What i think for this is use a local disk partition for booting purpose ( grub and /boot ) but root partition i want on NAS directory. This is just a testing configuration that i want to try.

If it is possible then it would be great if you can provide the key details or links. I welcome any alternate way if any.

Thanks,
-Trilok

Do you mean you want the NAS directory structure to be the directory structure
of the domain's /?  I guess you could use NFS root in the guest, though this
of course isn't transparent (and I've occasionally heard some bad noises
about Linux's NFS root support).

It's easier if you can get a block level interface to your NAS and then just
have that *be* the guest's virtual disk.  Can you do that?

We could do with a bit more information about what you're trying to do and
why, so that we can give you better advice.

Cheers,
Mark
