Re: [Xen-users] AM2 motherboards with HVM support

I have a Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2 motherboard with an Athlon 64 X2 4600+

The "svm" flag is present in /proc/cpuinfo, but "xm dmesg" contains:
(XEN) AMD SVM Extension is disabled in BIOS.
I have carefully gone through the BIOS setup options, and I don't see
anything relating to virtualization, HVM, SVM, AMD-V, etc.
See the thread "Xen 3.0.4.1 AMD-V HVM" from a month or so ago. That was
with a GA-M61P-S3. It seems to be a 'feature' of these gigabyte
boards that they disable SVM and don't let you switch it on again.
The solution for that one was to downgrade to a version of the BIOS that
didn't know how to switch SVM off. That might work for you.
Otherwise, avoid gigabyte boards for xen use.
