Re: RE: [Xen-users] fix the winxp guest image
Hi, Mats
#losetup /dev/loop0 /xen/winxp.img
#kpartx -av /dev/loop0
#mount /dev/mapper/loop0p1 /mnt
#cp -prv $WINDOWS/i386 /mnt/
#umount /mnt
pls see from this link, page 6.
https://virt.108.redhat.com/articles/2007/01/15/xen-guest-installation.pdf
I use the FAT.
My image included SP2, which I downloaded from the Uni website.I didn't use the
patch.
Thanks
Songtao

So, you're trying to add SP2 into a WinXP installation, right?

Where do you currently have your SP2 image? If it's on a CDROM, then
just point Windows to that CDROM or a IMAGE of it.

I'm not sure what youre trying to do here. But I suspect $WINDOWS is
probably not set to the right thing ($something means the "shell
variable something", and the error message indicates that you didn't
have anything in the variable called WINDOWS - not that case matters).

However, be the $WINDOWS what it may, you also have to bear in mind that
Linux is unable to write to a NTFS partition (other than modifying
existing files), so if your filesystem is NTFS, even if you have the
files there, you'll not be able to copy the files to the NTFS partition.
