Hey, this could be a business -- preparing generic xenable HVMLoadable
images and selling them!
If you look at the archives of this list you might realize that any
bsd in hvm mode is currently not possible. nobody heard of anybody
getting it done yet - I'd be very happy to be proven wrong.
Not much to gain from this business without getting very deep into the
xen sources code.
But when these changes are made, you have to provide them as free
software, and nobody will be interested in buying ready made images
because they can install themselves.
Still, if you wanna do it, there are probably quite some people who'd
invest some bucks to sponsor you working on it...
Even pv mode seems only work with xen 3.0.2, but all this does not
sound production-ready.
After buying a big new hvm server just for virtualization, and three
weeks of effort with minimal success, one of my friends dropped by with
a small laptop running a non-hvm CPU, Windows and VMware, and installed
all the stuff I have been trying, all the stuff others here have been
trying, and had zero issues.
I think "does not sound production-ready" about covers the current
status. Xen is great at running lots of little Linux server images, but
less able to run other operating systems.
