I've executed the
Xen Live CD (not Xenoppix) on an IBM Thinkpad T23. It comes up just fine, and
I'm able to get a DomU up and running just fine as well, including a VNC
desktop.
However, during
bootup, the Dom0 puts a lot of DHCPDISCOVER on Eth0 to the screen, eventually
comes back with "no DHCPOffers received" and then proceeds to boot. Executing
ifconfig shows no IP address. If I then execute dhclient, I get an address.
However, the DomU does not have network connectivity before or after the
dhclient is executed on the Dom0. Since this is a LiveCD, obviously I haven't
misconfigured the system, so wonder if someone can offer an insight about why
this situation occurs.
BTW, this is the 4th
machine I've executed the LiveCD on. Two of them were brand new dual core
Athlons, and on both the display wouldn't work. I also tried executing it on a
whitebox Athlon 64 3000 and right after the boot up process put up a message
about the gnome display manager starting up, the screen went black. I guess I
can understand the new machines perhaps having an issue with graphics device
drivers, but why would a year-old machine not be able to start a graphic
display?
