Re: [Xen-users] kernel 2.6.18
Hello
I would like to ask you: how you did it? :)
I am pretty new to debian. I tried to do it 2 times day ago and failed.
I have pretty new hardware - core 2 duo e6600 @ i965g and with 2.6.16 kernel is it little bit problematic.
From this is site: http://mirror.home-dn.net/d-i/ i downloaded updated install iso witch I was able to boot and install on my machine finaly. It uses 2.6.19 kernel.
Apt-get soucers are also from backport.org
Xen from backports is 3.0 only. So I tried change sources to unstable. Than appeared hypervisor 2.6.18.-2 and linux image xen.
Installation was pretty easy while I was following this how-to: http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/423 and simply changed only the hv and kernel image version.
Everything went ok until reboot.
When trying to reboot I realized that grub menu is correct updated but the images are in wrong place (am using separate /boot partition) so after correction from /boot/xen-
3.0.3.gz to /xen-3.0.3.gz and correcting also other 2 lines bellow in same way I finaly booted the kernel.
But than occured problem - kernel stoped with statement there is no root mount point anf (sysramfs).....
Ok I reseted and wanted to investigate the problem from classic kernel. But It was not bootable anymore and kernel booting end with same/similar error and sysramfs.... So completly stuck.
I dont know what I am doing bad. Please I would like to ask you for help.
Can you send me how you did it to install 2.6.18 xen on debian? How looks out your apt-sources? Sysramfs is it in some way in connection with initrd.img?
The last thing. My system is sw raid 1 on two disks....4 partition...
/boot swap / lvm2 for guest
So once more...dont you know what I am doing wrong?
Your help will be greatly apreciated.
Best regards
Peter Braun
