[Xen-users] Network Interface Doesn't Work with Xen (FC6)
Sorry, but no one was touching my earlier post so I renamed the subject
line.
Does anyone know how to get the Broadcom BCM4401-B0 NIC working with the
FC6 xen kernel? I wiped a perfectly good FC5 installation to install FC6
so now I've got to use other machines to try to find an answer.
Transcribing log entries by hand is tedious too. Neither the hardwire
(b44) or wireless (ipw3945) NICS work, but I really need the copper
Ethernet first because I can't use wireless at work.
Hardware:
Dell Inspiron E1705 (9400) Notebook
CPU: Intel Core Duo 2.16 GHz
HDD: Hitachi HTS72101 SATA 100GB
RAM: 2GB dual-channel
NICs: Broadcom BCM4401-B0
Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG
BIOS: A00
VT-ext: Enabled in BIOS
OS: Fedora Core 6
Kernel: 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6xen
Excerpt from dmesg:
--------------------------------
b44.c:v1.01 (Jun 16, 2006)
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:03:00.0[A] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
b44 0000:03:00.0: No usable DMA configuration, aborting
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:03:00.0 disabled
b44: probe of 0000:03:00.0 failed with error -5
--------------------------------
Neither the hardwire (b44) or wireless (ipw3945) NICS work.
I found one unanswered post on the Xen list from April 2006 that
describes my problem exactly. The poster "Woody" has identical hardware,
but was complaining of the problem with a "xen patched 2.6.16 kernel".
Is this problem still plaguing the latest 2.6.18 kernels?
One of the main reasons I replaced my FC5 installation with FC6 was to
gain use of the Xen native virtualization using the VT extensions of the
Core Duo processors. Without networking, however, this capability is of
limited use!
Thanks for any help/suggestions.
